Wall Ball Warm Up #3
Focus
Passing, Setting (Overhead Pass), Ball Control, Spiking, Downball (Standing Controlled Hit).

Purpose
Emphasises ball control and footwork. An excellent warm-up for coaches who don't have a net available.

Instructions
Setup
Both players start in front of a wall. Ideally, have a marking/line on the wall that the players must play the ball above (simulating a 'net').
Step 1
Player (A) starts by hitting the ball into the wall, where it rebounds to player (B).
Hits must be above the marking/line on the wall
Emphasise that the drill is about ball control and maximising repititions, not about 'winning'
Step 2
Player (B) plays the ball to themselves twice (setting or digging), and then hits the ball into the wall for player (A).
Again, emphasise that the drill is about control, not trying to beat the other player.
If players are having difficulty, reduce the number of touches players need from 3 to 2.
Step 3
Player (A) plays the ball to themselves twice (setting or digging), and the drill repeats.
Give players a target number of repetitions to aim for (5, 10, etc)
If players are struggling to hit with enough control, have them set the ball into the wall rather than hitting.
